TMUS enjoys a leading position in 5G services in the US, a market which is still growing rapidly. Also, even though it is quite large itself, TMUS has proved itself to be more agile than its bigger competitors and it has enjoyed great success with its marketing strategy, centred around the user and the concept of the “un-carrier,” whereby TMUS reinvented the tired model of old fashioned, utility-style basic services provided by faceless monoliths, the carriers.

This quality of service helps the company to minimise subscriber churn, which enables TMUS to keep generating good financial returns. 

T-Mobile was the first U.S. wireless carrier to set a net-zero emissions target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative; it has a goal to achieve net-zero emissions across the company’s entire footprint by 2040.

Whilst T-Mobile has made net-zero commitments, its greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise due to expanding infrastructure required to meet increasing data traffic demands.

Climate change remains a material risk for T-Mobile, as more frequent and severe weather events (e.g. higher temperatures, strong winds, and droughts) pose risks to its’ infrastructure. 

Fires and other damage to cell towers and power lines could result in service disruptions and related financial losses, as well as increased costs for maintenance and replacement. 

The company manages large volumes of sensitive customer data which exposes it to significant cybersecurity risks.

Data breaches could result in reputational damage, loss of customer trust, and potential legal consequences. Cyber-risks can deliver substantial disruption and losses on a global basis from a very localised incident.
