What the Company Does

Smith & Nephew is a medical technology or “MedTech” company which supports patients and healthcare professionals in the following areas: Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine & Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) as well as Advanced Wound Management.

Orthopaedics includes a range of hip and knee implants used to replace diseased, damaged or worn joints, robotics assisted enabling technologies and trauma products used to stabilize severe fractures and correct bone deformities. 

The Sports Medicine and ENT division provides products and instruments used to repair or remove soft tissue while the Advanced Wound Management business provides products such as dressings and biofilms to help clinicians minimize the human and economic consequences of wounds, ulcers, pressure sores and burns.

Established in Kingston-Upon-Hull in the 1850s, more than half of company sales are now made in the US and the company operates in over 100 countries.
