Also, retail investors can increasingly participate in this asset class via open-ended, semi-liquid, “evergreen” investment vehicles. Partners Group has investment programmes and custom mandates spanning private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate and royalties. With its heritage in Switzerland and its primary presence in the Americas in Colorado, Partners Group is a little different to the rest of the industry.

The firm’s investment portfolios and distribution footprint are highly diversified both geographically and by product type and the business benefits from high operating margins and a strong balance sheet.

Like many finance firms, Partners Group faces scrutiny not so much for their own business practices but over the business they conduct with others. Much of Partners Group’s environmental impact stems from its investments across energy-intensive sectors (e.g., healthcare, consumer goods, IT, industrials, infrastructure, energy and utilities, and real estate).

Whilst the company has net zero commitments, the energy intensive nature of these sectors remains a concern. 

Cybersecurity is a newer risk-area for the industry. This is an area where we are looking for greater clarity from firms. Such attacks may cause revenue loss due to downtime, erosion of customer trust, regulatory penalties, intellectual property theft, and other harms.
