Judges Scientific is a holding company specialising in the acquisition and development of scientific instrument businesses. Judges has a good track record of generating growth through its highly disciplined buy and build strategy.

The company is a serial acquirer, focusing on businesses with high barriers to entry through technological advantages in global niche markets, with limited competition. Companies in the Judges group sell high margin, specialist products to a broad range of end markets primarily focusing on higher education institutions, scientific research organisations, industrial manufacturers and regulatory authorities.

Examples include microscopy, fibre-optics and surface treatments. Judges’ products are engineered for long-term use if maintained properly, with many customers operating equipment which is more than ten years old but still working well.
