What the Company Does

Alphabet began life in 1998 as the search-engine Google, established by Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Google established a lead in web search by innovating and delivering better technology than competitors. In Search, they focused on delivering more relevant results, faster than other search engines.

Billions of people use Alphabet’s products and platforms each day; these include Chrome, YouTube, Search, Ads, and Android-powered mobile devices. Google has leading positions in online search, video content and mobile operating systems, while its advertising platform generates significant revenue through digital marketing.

With an emphasis on Research & Development (R&D), Alphabet is always refining its products to help maintain its market presence and keep the company at the forefront of innovation.
