CFP Castlefield Sustainable UK Opportunities Fund

This fund focuses on investing at least 80% of your money in UK company shares, selected using our own B.E.S.T investment methodology and subject to our main Screening Policy. The fund’s approach is firmly rooted in investing for at least five years and based on our own analysis of company fundamentals, where we aim to identify those firms that can grow their profits - either by accessing a growing niche within a wider industry, having access to superior pricing from technological or market dynamics or by owning assets which we feel are fundamentally undervalued. By drawing on our own in-house research we’re able to provide an unbiased view of investment opportunities and build a portfolio, always with sustainability at its core. Indeed, the fund often forms the main UK equity exposure of more broadly diversified client portfolios.

The fund typically holds 35-45 holdings, run using an unconstained, conviction style of investment. In other words, we commit to our investments only where we have the utmost confidence in our analysis (rather than simply passively tracking an index) which results in low portfolio turnover, in turn recognising that excessive trading is often to the detriment of performance.

The fund has a multi-market capitalisation remit, extending from large companies down to small companies and some AIM-quoted stocks. Furthermore, being unconstrained, we’re free from sector or stock limits, which would otherwise require us to hold shares in a sector or company to which we are not fully committed. With this combination of research driven investment approach and concentrated portfolio construction we aim to maximise the benefit of our efforts for investors.
