Zouk private equity fund exceeds fundraising target

Zouk Capital, a UK investor, has announced a successful fundraising round for its latest cleantech fund. Despite a very difficult general economic environment, the fund has raised £203m which is more than double the size of the previous Zouk cleantech fund.

The fund will invest across three core strategies; energy efficiency, renewable energy and waste/water management technology. Globally the number of funds active in the cleantech sector has quadrupled between 2004 and 2010 according to data from Fleischhauer, Hoyer and Partners – a consultancy which monitors private equity activity. This clearly demonstrates continued positive sentiment amongst investors for investment into early stage cleantech businesses, and this fund will provide additional capital for the sector.
