John Shiers Memorial Lecture - Thursday 3rd October 5.00pm John Shiers was a friend, yoga companion and loyal client of the Gaeia founder Brigid Benson. He was later looked after by Gaeia adviser, Helen Tandy, until his early death from asbestos induced cancer only in October 2011. We are pleased to be invited to this Lecture in memory of John. We were sure many more of our clients will be interested in attending this event and so please find the details below: The Friends of Forty Second Street invite offer an open invitation to attend the inaugural John Shiers Memorial Lecture on Thursday 3rd October 2013 at 5.00pm, in Room 104, Geoffrey Manton Building, All Saints Campus, Manchester Metropolitan University, Oxford Rd, Manchester M15 6BH. The lecture will be given by Professor Helen Colley, University of Huddersfield, and will be titled:

Public services in a time of economic crisis: a loss of moral compass?

The expression of John’s powerful commitment to the values of public service influenced many people, and we hope you will be able to come and join the debate about the future of public services. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available beforehand from 4.00pm at the On the Eighth Day Café, Oxford Road, with an opportunity for a drink and conversation afterwards at Sandbar in Grosvenor Street.
