How our recycled office furniture is helping not-for-profit and community groups in Trafford via VCAT

By Helen Tandy Director, Financial Adviser (Twitter: @helentandy) I used the power of Twitter to find a new home for our old furniture, when an existing Gaeia client put us in touch with VCAT. Voluntary and Community Action Trafford (VCAT) have recently moved into new premises in Trafford. VCAT aims to develop an effective and highly skilled voluntary and community sector, capable of making a strong contribution towards a fair and open society in Trafford. They help voluntary and community groups and local charities in their development. VCAT had an open Day on February 19th to launch its new Open Space Initiative and to showcase the services that VCAT offer to members and non-members in the Trafford community. So our furniture will be put to a new use quickly. Not-for-profit organisations in Old Trafford are being offered rent-free office space thanks to the initiative. Mark Nesbitt, Chief Executive says: "We are extremely grateful to Gaeia for their generous donation of office desks, chairs and pedestals following their move to larger premises. VCAT (with the help of our local MP Mrs Kate Green) has recently launched our Shared Space Initiative, an open space where community groups and social value organisations can work and collaborate. Gaeia's furniture has helped us achieve the fitting out of our office space and will undoubtedly benefit local community groups and organisations for many years to come. This in my opinion is true corporate social responsibility. On behalf of VCAT and the many voluntary and community groups who will sit and use your recycled office furniture... many thanks."
