I started work in 1986 at the Liverpool firm of Neilson Hornby Crichton, with early experiences being Big Bang in 1986 and the huge privatisations of British Telecom and British Gas. I moved to Manchester in 1989.

Following a circuitous route via the Potteries, I returned to Manchester in 2011 to head up the Manchester office of Brewin Dolphin, before joining Castlefield Investment Partners in 2022, experiencing along the way any number of financial, economic and industry crises, as well as booms and busts.

Away from the somewhat rarefied world of Financial Services, I believe it’s important to experience how organisations operate in different, possibly less well-funded sectors.  Hence, I have been a Trustee for a number of years, working with some amazing organisations, like Arch (North Staffs), Contact Theatre and 42nd Street. Each helping young and vulnerable people to not only survive but to succeed in challenging circumstances.

Notwithstanding family life, my greatest pleasures outside work generally involve hills and mountains, cycling, walking, skiing, travel, or just admiring.
