Give Back Group (GBG) CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES 2022

As we reach the conclusion of our 2022 fundraising year, the GBG has been hosting a number of Christmas fundraising events.  

Castlefield Christmas Quiz 

The first of these was our annual Castlefield Christmas Quiz, which was held at the Waldorf Pub in Manchester on Dec 1st. Co-owners were invited to bring friends and family and with tickets being £5 a head we managed to raise just shy of £100. Dave Gorman took on the role of quiz master for yet another year and as usual did an excellent job. After 9 very competitive rounds, the winning team was only 2 points ahead of the runners up. Which made the victory all the sweeter. The grand prize was a Christmas custard jug from Barnardos, which served another purpose as a tankard as the night wore on. It’s safe to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Christmas Jumper Day  

On Dec 8th, the GBG will be hosting a Christmas jumper day which coincides with our office Christmas party. We hope to persuade Co-owners to wear their jumpers for the entire day (the more garish the better) and donate £1 to our charity pot. We have also encouraged Co-owners to think sustainably and avoid buying a fast-fashion jumper just for the event. Instead, we’ve suggested that they ‘beg, borrow and thrift’. Cracker Crafts 

Our final festive event will also take place on Dec 8th, where Co-owners will be invited to roll their sleeves up and get crafty. The GBG will be hosting a Christmas crackers craft session for Co-owners to create their own ‘sustainable’ crackers. Keeping in line with our Christmas themed blog ‘I’m dreaming of a waste-free Christmas’. Unlike the other two events this will not be a fundraising event and is instead one of those few activities that the GBG hosts throughout the year as a way of ‘giving back’ to our fellow Co-owners.
