Flipping marvellous pancake competition

By Tara Lawford

Castlefield co-owners celebrated Shrove Tuesday this year by flipping pancakes and raising money.

The Castlefield Give Back Group (GBG) celebrated pancake day in our Manchester office to raise money for charity, by putting on a spread of pancakes and fillings to feast on throughout the day. The day was also marked as we hosted our inaugural ‘pancake flipping competition’ in the office kitchen.

For £2 a go, Co-owners competed by flipping a pancake as many times as they could in 30 seconds, with a professional pancake pan as the prize for the winner. This year the pancake flipping champion was Nyle Yates, who won with a total of 34 flips!

On winning the coveted award, Nyle who looks after the company’s IT, said: “I usually just tell people to switch their machines off and on, so I used the same simple ‘flip up and down’ strategy here. It feels flipping marvellous to win.”

Amongst co-owners, the most favoured pancake filling throughout the day was Nutella and banana, closely followed by classic lemon and sugar.

After receiving positive feedback following the event, the GBG now has plans to make this an annual activity in our fundraising calendar.
