Castlefield’s Give Back Group: A Year in Review

Following a successful year of fundraising efforts, the Give Back Group are pleased to announce that at the end of 2022, Castlefield co-owners have raised and incredible £2,510 (with another c. £570.65 in gift aid contributions) for our chosen charities: Burdens Charitable Foundation and the Royal Manchester Childrens’ Hospital Charity.

Castlefield has long been a proud partner of Burdens Charitable Foundation (BCF), whose main charitable activities at present involve La Renaissance School in Burkina Faso. With BCF as a shareholder in our business, the Foundation will continue to be a meaningful part of Castlefield’s charity and fundraising activities.

The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity had been chosen at the beginning of the year by co-owners from a shortlist proposed by members of the Give Back Group and suggestions from other colleagues. The Children’s Hospital receives over 276,000 patient visits each year and the funds received contribute towards state-of-the-art equipment and provide support for children and families during what can be a very difficult time.1

The year saw co-owners get involved in a wide range of fundraising activities, with highlights including events such as the Great Manchester Run, climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks, our annual Step Challenge, and local litter picking. As ever, we also took part in some more social activities, including our Christmas Charity Quiz, a St Patrick’s Day Bingo night, and Dungeons and Flagons – a board game evening.

The Give Back Group was also established to organise activities to promote employee health and wellbeing. This year highlights included a rerun a popular virtual relaxation massage session and also an external speaker, Deanne Walsh, a mental health and wellbeing consultant.

We’ve been thrilled with the enthusiasm shown for supporting our chosen charities and the amount raised this year is close to three times the amount we were able to raise last year. We’re looking forward to carrying this momentum over into the New Year and have some exiting developments for the Give Back Group which we’re looking forward to sharing more information about in 2023.
