Castlefield Charitable Fund relaunched with announcement of chosen charities

By Alison Newall

Castlefield's internal fundraising committee is pleased to relaunch the Castlefield Charitable Fund with the announcement of this year's chosen charities.

The Give Back Group, Castlefield's internal committee of co-owners who arrange and host fundraising activities, is pleased to announce the chosen charities that will benefit from the relaunch of the Castlefield Charitable Fund (CCF).

Originally established in 2006, with funds which might otherwise have been distributed to the Partners as profits, the CCF has been able to support a wide range of charities - mainly local to Manchester.

In recent years it hasn’t been active, but last year, donations from Castlefield Partners Limited and Burdens Charitable Foundation have provided CCF with the means to support worthwhile local projects with a positive social and environmental impact.

In early 2023, a shortlist of charities was submitted for Co-owners to vote for their preferred charity within each of the following areas:

  • Preventing homelessness
  • Support for vulnerable families and children (immediate need & education)
  • Health and well-being
  • Environment and sustainability

We’re pleased to say the following organisations have been chosen and will be recipients of a grant from the Castlefield Charitable Fund, as well as being supported by our fundraising activities during the year:

Preventing homelessness

The Booth Centre provides a warm welcome, an opportunity to belong, to gain a purpose and rebuild lives. Programmes include activities such as volunteering, creative projects and sports, as well as training and help to gain employment. The Centre also supports people to improve health and wellbeing, to access emergency accommodation, and to secure and maintain a permanent home.

The Centre is run in partnership with the people who attend and they apply their skills and experience to influence strategic change.

Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) For many young people, the transition to adulthood isn’t easy. In the UK, one third of young people are lonely, half feel unready for work and half feel like they don’t belong to their community. Greater Manchester Youth Network’s vision is #YoungPeopleCan and the Network helps young people in Greater Manchester overcome this. GMYN deliver a range of development programmes and drop-in activities to help young people transition to adulthood feeling skilled, supported and positive.
